Structural Engineer

The primary role of the Structural Engineer of the Engineering department is to support to production and commercial departments on technical specifications, design, and construction drawings of vessels.

Location: Baku city, Garadagh region, Baku-Astara highway 25km.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing configurations of the basic structural components of a structure;
  • Calculating the pressures, stresses, and strains that each component, such as a beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes;
  • Considering the strength of various materials, e.g. timber, concrete, steel, and  brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design;
  • Liaising with other designers, to agree on safe designs and  their  fit  with  the aesthetic concept of the construction;
  • Examining structures at risk of collapse and advising how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure;
  • Making drawings, specifications, and computer models of structures for building contractors;
  • Applying expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures;
  • Undertake any other jobs or tasks related to his position assigned by Engineering Managers.

Education & Experience:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine & Offshore Technology, or its equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience and knowledge of AutoCAD-related courses

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, drawings, and symbols according to international standards;
  • Designing, analyzing, and ensuring the structural integrity of various projects by utilizing industry-standard software and tools to produce accurate designs and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents clearly and accurately;
  • The ability to interface with shipyard engineering and construction activities to develop project documentation within cost and schedule constraints;
  • Capability to work against deadlines and prioritize work assignments accordingly;
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Must have computer knowledge in AutoCAD, Ansys, MATLAB, and MS Office;
  • Good command of spoken and written English.
